Hint: He was not in the tomb! Jesus was raised from the dead!
If you are thinking, how is that possible? You are not alone. To believe that the body of Jesus, killed through crucifixion, in the Spring of 33AD by the Romans, was actually raised from the dead, is not easy!
Here are some facts that allow a reasonable person to believe that when they did find Jesus' body, he was no longer dead, but alive:
1. The first accounts were reported by female disciples. In first century Palestine, women had not power or authority. Thus, Christians building it on the account of a few women adds to the truth.
2. The tomb was empty. No one doubts that. The gospels actually anticipate the theories of what "really happened" (people stole his body) and are honest that people will think this is all a fraud. Putting these doubts "out there", adds to the truth.
3. Women and men throughout history, starting with the apostles Peter and Paul, experienced the Risen Jesus in various ways and have given testimony. In addition, the Risen Jesus changed their lives and they offer their change as a further "proof" that this is real.
4. Even today, every day people gather at Churches like Saint Cecila - Fox Chase because they have experienced the power of God who raised up Jesus from the dead. If you would like to experience the Risen Jesus, or at least talk more about him, we hope that you will join us for conversation (in person or on the phone). Contact Mike and we will go from there!
