Significant changes to Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law went into effect in 2015. In keeping with the changes to the law and to demonstrate the Archdiocese of Philadelphia's continued commitment to protect the children entrusted to our care, ThePolicy for the Protection of Children and Young People has been updated.
This new policy will directly impact anyone who wishes to work or serve as a volunteer in our school. As a part of our Safe Environment Program, all school volunteers, as well as staff, must undergo criminal and child abuse background checks and attend the required classes prior to starting their activities in the school. This is true even if you plan on volunteering just one time, such as chaperoning a class trip.
Noted below are the required clearances and class certificates that must be kept on file in Saint Cecilia Church. For more information, you can contact us at 215-725-1240 or visit www.childyouthprotection.org.
We highly encourage volunteers to complete and process the Criminal Record Check and Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance yourself.
Criminal Record Check - go to https://epatch.state.pa.us - click on submit a new record check and proceed. At the end, click on Certification and print out the certificate and send it to the rectory. No charge for volunteers after July 25, 2015.
